The hour-long service will be led by the Reverend Verity Brown – the Civic Chaplain and Priest-in-charge of the parish church of St Hilda – and there will be accompaniment from Councillor Brenda Harrison and her choir Paraphernalia, as well as St Hilda’s own youth choir, Logos.

There will be several readings and the prayers of intercession will be led by the Chief Executive of Hartlepool Borough Council, Gill Alexander.

The retiring collection at the end of the service will be for St Hilda’s Church and the Mayor’s two chosen causes – Macmillan Cancer Support and the Rifty Youth Project.

Councillor Paul Beck, the Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool, said: “I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone to join us for this special event.

“It is a great way for people of the town to come together and celebrate the festive season.

“We are looking forward to seeing as many people as possible at the service and would particularly like to thank the Reverend Verity Brown and the people at St Hilda’s Church for allowing us to host the event there.”
