THERE’S an opportunity for businesses to find out more about the benefits of exporting and what they need to do succeed in that at a free event in Hartlepool.

Called ‘You Can Export – Introduction To International Trade’, it’s on Thursday 8 February from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Cleveland College of Art and Design and has been organised by the Department of International Trade North-East and is supported by Hartlepool Borough Council.

The workshop is aimed both at firms which are new to exporting and those which are looking to enter new overseas markets and will cover all the key basics including:

* The benefits of exporting

* The challenges

* The ingredients of a successful export strategy

* Market research

* Establishing the right route to market

* Finding customers, agents and distributors

* The support available from the Department for International Trade

At the end of the event there will also be an opportunity for firms to discuss their business with a local International Trade Adviser in a short one-to-one meeting.

Councillor Kevin Cranney, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “The world wants quality UK goods and services.

“This workshop is a great opportunity for firms from Hartlepool and the wider region to learn more about those fantastic opportunities and how to go about taking them as well as how to avoid the pitfalls.”
