Are you interested in becoming a Hartlepool councillor?

A SPECIAL event is being held in Hartlepool on Saturday 17 March for anyone interested in standing for election as a councillor in the forthcoming borough elections.

The briefing event will be held in Civic Centre in Victoria Road at 10am and prospective candidates will be able to ask questions and find out more about the role of a councillor.

Local elections will take place in Hartlepool on Thursday 3 May to elect borough councillors. In the local elections, there will be one seat contested in each of Hartlepool’s 11 wards.

Candidates must be aged 18 or over and must be on the Electoral Register or have lived, worked or owned a property in Hartlepool during the whole of the last 12 months before the day of their nomination and the day of the election.

The closing date for nominations for anyone wishing to stand in the local elections is 4pm on Friday 6 April. There is no deposit required to stand in the elections.

People wanting to vote need to make sure they are on the Electoral Register. They can vote either in person at their allocated polling station on the day of the poll or by post.
