A powerful theatre production which explores identity, masculinity and belonging is coming to Hartlepool Town Theatre on Monday 30th April, from 7.30pm.

Testosterone takes audiences into a world often ignored onstage and tells the story of Kit, who having transitioned from female to male in his early thirties, has experienced adult life on both sides of the gender fence, giving him the opportunity to notice the differences in how he is treated by society.

Testosterone explores the sometimes toxic world of men and looks at the benefits and restraints Kit has observed whilst becoming a man.

The award-winning production by Rhum and Clay won best theatre show at the Pleasance 2017 and combines storytelling, comedy and physical theatre with the powerful writing and true story of transgender theatre writer, director and performer Kit Redstone.

“We think everyone should have the opportunity to see this ground-breaking show, which is why we’ve made it part of our Pay What You Decide programme.” Says Jamie Kelly, Cultural Officer (Theatre and Development) at Hartlepool Borough Council.

Pay What You Decide is an initiative which allows theatre-goers to book their tickets in advance, then decide at the end of the show how much they feel the show was worth.

“We are extremely proud to be showing a production with such a strong and important message, as part our vision to bring accessible and inclusive theatre to Hartlepool.” Added Jamie.

Tickets can be booked in person at Hartlepool Tourist Information Centre in Church Square or by calling Hartlepool Box Office on 01429 890000 (Tues - Sat, 10am – 4.30pm, Sat 10am – 4pm).
