Creatives join forces for unique visual performance

The work of three creatives is being celebrated in an artistic display featuring live music, motion graphics and costume design at Hartlepool Art Gallery next month.

The ‘Home and Lives’ performance evening takes place on Friday 8 June from 6.30pm and features folk music from Durham-based singer-songwriter Harri Endersby who will be preforming a selection of songs from her new album.

During Harri’s performance a collection of striking visuals developed by Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) student Rory Henderson will be projected onto a unique dress crafted especially for the occasion by fellow CCAD student Amy Norris.

Amy Norris, Costume Design student, and Rory Henderson, Graphic Design student, say: “It is so exciting to be given the opportunity to work in collaboration with both Harri and the Art Gallery to display our work in this format allows us to showcase what we have learnt over our three years studying at CCAD. The project has been in the pipeline for a long time and we are delighted to see it come to life in the Art Gallery at last.”

The collaborative project draws on the themes Harri raises in her album titled ‘Home and Lives’ addressing ideas of home, memory and belonging.  This is spectacularly communicated through the dress and the visuals, creating a reimagined audio visual experience that people can personally engage with.

Ashley Landsbury, Cultural Officer (Arts & Exhibitions) at Hartlepool Borough Council, says: “It’s always a pleasure to provide local emerging creatives with the opportunity to showcase their work and we are especially excited for this unique, multi-sensory experience to come to the Art Gallery which provides the perfect platform.”

The performance evening is free entry and will include drinks, time to meet and talk to the artists from 6.30pm and a live performance taking place at 7pm.

Harri’s performance is a one-off event, however the ‘Home and Lives’ exhibition will be on display in Hartlepool Art Gallery from 2 - 30 June.
