Make your May holiday marvellous at Oscars

Parents in Hartlepool are reminded about an action-packed fortnight of fun for children at Oscars during the May half term break.

The Hartlepool Council-run Oscar club is based at Rossmere Youth Centre on Rossmere Way and offers an exciting package of activities for children aged 3 to 16, running from Tuesday 29 May until Friday 1 June.

Under 8 activities at oscars

Each day parents are able drop off their children from 8am with breakfast provided for them on arrival. They then embark on a day of activities prior to being collected by parents by 5.45pm.

The four days of fun kicks off with a toy morning and a trip to Rossmere Park where children can enjoy some fun in the sunshine.

Throughout the break, youngsters will have the chance to craft some clay models, make Hama beads and bird feeders, tackle an obstacle course and don their pyjamas for a special screening at Oscars film club.

Sandra Robinson, the Council’s Out of School Coordinator, explains: “No matter what weather the May break will bring, children are guaranteed to enjoy the activities we have in store here at Oscars.

“A number of sports, arts and craft activities have been carefully planned by staff to entertain children of all ages. The emphasis is always on fun at Oscars and parents can relax knowing that their children are enjoying themselves and are in safe hands.

“We encourage parents to get in touch as soon as possible to book their children a space for what is sure to be an fantastic May break.”

The service, which has been running for over 20 years, was hailed as “outstanding” by Ofsted inspectors.

Oscars also operate an after-school service on weekdays which involves children being collected from school and transported to the centre where they take part in a wide range of educational and fun activities. Parents then have until 6pm to collect their children.
