There's a treat in store for music lovers on Saturday 15 September when some of Hartlepool’s most talented young musicians will be showcased in a concert at the Town Hall Theatre.

Called ‘A Celebration of Music’, it will feature some of the local young musicians who this year will receive scholarships from the town’s Preston Simpson and Sterndale Trust.

The event will help raise funds for the Trust, which provides scholarships to young people aged 15-25 who either live in or have other strong links with Hartlepool to assist them with their musical studies.

On the bill are Ethan Scott (vocal), Amy Todd-Davis (piano), Olivia Carey (vocal), William Hartley (bassoon), Grace Allen (vocal), Kira Lister (piano), Jake Haygarth (tenor horn), Kate Todd-Davis (piano), Neil Sild (cello) and Georgia Lennon (vocal).

The concert will also feature the choirs of St Teresa’s Primary School, West View Primary School, St Hild’s School and Hart Elwick Federation.

The Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham Mrs Sue Snowdon will be attending the event and will present the scholarships together with Chris Simmons, the Chair of the Trust.

Chris Simmons said: “This very popular annual concert provides a platform for the very best of Hartlepool’s young musical talent performing to a professional standard and it’s a marvellous evening of entertainment.

“I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Trust over the past year – their generous donations are vital in helping us to continue our work in supporting the town’s young musicians to reach their full potential.”

The show starts at 7pm and tickets cost £5 each - children under 16 are free if accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available from Hartlepool Art Gallery and Tourist Information Centre in Church Square or by calling 01429 890000.
