Drop in to see Dr Bike

Published Friday, 3rd August 2018

The Hartlepool Cycle Clinic is to host another of its popular Dr Bike drop-in sessions, giving people a chance to have their bikes checked over free of charge.

Staff from the clinic, normally based at Summerhill Country Park, will be on National Cycle Network route 14 between Maritime Avenue and Newburn Bridge on Tuesday August 7th from 10am-4pm.

Support for the initiative from the Hartlepool Borough Council-led Hartlepool Active Travel Hub, which promotes sustainable forms of transport as an alternative to the car, means the check-up service can be offered free of charge.

Tony Davison, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Sustainable Travel Officer who co-ordinates the work of the Hub, said: “Anyone can drop by to have their bike checked by Cytec-qualified bike mechanics. They will be able to resolve smaller issues on the spot, and they will be able to advise on more substantial repairs.

“People will also be able to put their names down for forthcoming bicycle maintenance training courses run by the Hartlepool Cycle Clinic team.”
