A special event is to be held in Hartlepool to enable residents to raise crime and community safety issues.

The Crime and Community Safety Event is to be held in Hartlepool Borough Council’s Community Hub North (services hosted by West View Advice and Resource Centre) in Miers Avenue on Thursday (27 September) from 6.30-7.30pm.

Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Barry Coppinger and Inspector Darren Bainbridge from the Hartlepool Community Safety Team will be present to provide updates on local and Cleveland-wide policing issues.

Councillor Stephen Thomas, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Adult Services Committee and a councillor for the De Bruce ward where the event is taking place, said: “The event is an opportunity for residents living in the De Bruce ward to ask questions or raise concerns about crime, policing and community safety and I would urge people to attend.

“I’m grateful to the PCC and Inspector Bainbridge for agreeing to attend the event and provide updates to the meeting.”

PCC Barry Coppinger said: “As part of my Your Force Your Voice initiative I have attended almost 600 community meetings since I was first elected in 2012. These events give me an invaluable opportunity hear the real policing concerns of Cleveland residents and filter them into my Police and Crime Plan.

“I hope many Hartlepool residents will come along to this event and I look forward to having valuable discussions about policing and community safety in the town.”

Inspector Darren Bainbridge from the Hartlepool Community Safety Team, added: “This is an opportunity for people to come along and speak to us about issues they may have in their neighbourhood or ask questions. We would welcome anyone that would like to come along to do this as it’s important for us to hear about issues and to try to resolve them.”

The Hartlepool Community Safety Team, which brings together Hartlepool Borough Council, Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade staff in one location at Hartlepool Police Station in Avenue Rooad, was officially launched in February this year.

It aims to ensure that crime and community safety issues in the town receive a co-ordinated multi-agency response.

The team stages weekly drop-ins at Hartlepool Borough Council’s three community hubs in the north, centre and south of the town at the following times: North (Wednesday, 11am-2pm), Centre (Monday, 11am-2pm) and South (Tuesday,11am-2pm).
