Start 2019 right with a healthy lifestyle course

Those looking to transform their health this New Year should look no further than a brand new course starting this month.

Taking place at Community Hub South (Wynyard Road), an eight week ‘Healthy Lifestyle Course’ will run from Monday 28th January until Monday 18 March from 1pm until 2.45pm and costs just £20.

Participants must attend an initial free registration which will take place on Monday 21 January from 1pm until 2pm with the Council’s Community Connectors team, where a complimentary body composition measurement will be taken using Tanita scales.

These scales are able to provide starting measurements of weight, muscle mass, fat mass, metabolic age, bone density and hydration levels, helping to identify how each individual can best achieve their desired outcomes from accessing the programme.

Each week following will offer a variety of physical activity and a topical workshop, offering information on a range of subjects from sugars and fats to food groups, recipes and calorie swap ideas.

On completion of the eight week programme, participants will take part in a further free 1-1 session with a Community Connector, where a final Tanita scales reading will be taken and a personalised activity and meal plan will be drawn up.

Lorraine Harrison, Health and Exercise Coordinator, said: “This course offers people of all ages the perfect opportunity to start the year off on the right foot and improve their lifestyle, through a combination of increased fun physical activity and a better understanding of what will work better for them regarding their food choices.

“It’s excellent value for money with tailored support throughout - with the free registration and 1-1 sessions at the start and end of the course, each week will cost just £2.50.

“Make this small investment for your long term health and see just how much of a difference eight weeks can make.”
