Join the Mayor for two great evenings

As he toasts the success of his most recent event, the Mayor of Hartlepool Councillor Allan Barclay is inviting people to join him for two more evenings to raise funds for his chosen good causes.

Councillor Barclay is holding a Curry Night on Monday 18 March at the Sheesh Mahal restaurant at Seaton Reach, Seaton Carew. Tickets for the meal, which starts at 7pm, cost £20 per person.

Then there’s the Mayor’s Civic Dinner to look forward to on Friday 29 March at The AVenue in Lauder Steet, Hartlepool, at 7pm. Tickets cost £40 each and include a drink of choice on arrival, a three-course meal with a complimentary glass of wine, plus entertainment by local vocal quartet The JADeS. There will also be a raffle and tombola.

Profits from the events will be split between the Mayor’s two chosen good causes – Hartlepool Armed Forces Liaison Group and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Burns Night success

Councillor Allan Barclay (centre) thanks Rifty Youth Project Co-ordinator Stephen Akers-Belcher for the youth project’s help with his Burns Night Supper, as piper Frank Bonner plays a tune.

The invitations come as the Mayor revealed the final tally from his recent Burns Night Supper in the Rift House Community Building in Chesterton Road. The event – which included traditional Scottish fare plus entertainment by piper Frank Bonner – raised a total of £1,100 for the two good causes.

Councillor Barclay said: “I very much hope people will join me for my Curry Night and Civic Dinner, for some good food and fine company – all in aid of two very fine organisations.

“I would also like to thank everyone who joined me for my Burns Night celebration. Special thanks go to Stephen Akers-Belcher and the volunteers from ‘My Cafe’ at the Rifty Youth Project who did all the catering for the Burns Night Supper and made it such a mouth-watering and memorable evening.”

‘My Cafe’, which is based in the Rift House Community Building, is part of the Rifty Youth Project and serves up tasty meals and snacks to raise funds for the youth project’s activities.
