The Hartlepool Economic Regeneration and Tourism Forum will take place next week with education as its primary focus, and businesses of all sizes and other key stakeholders are invited to attend.

Senior representatives of the Northern School of Art, Hartlepool College of Further Education and Hartlepool Sixth Form College will each give presentations to the meeting which is to be held at the Centre for Independent Living (CIL) in Burbank Street from 8am on Thursday March 28th.

Councillor Kevin Cranney, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “All three colleges are playing a vital role in respect of ensuring that a suitably qualified pool of workers is available to meet the needs of the local economy, now and in the future.

“Indeed, the new Hartlepool Economic Growth and Regeneration Strategy which I will be providing a brief update on at the meeting, acknowledges the excellent work they are involved in.”

The strategy which has been developed by consultants Genecon on behalf of the Council, will run until 2021 and aims to promote a dynamic and creative approach to economic growth.

Councillor Cranney added: “The strategy has huge importance for the economic future of our Borough and I am pleased that I am being given the opportunity to talk about it at next week’s meeting.

“It is not just a Council strategy, buy-in is also required from local businesses and other key organisations. This will ensure that as a Borough we maintain and develop our existing commitment to partnership working and maximise the benefits of economic growth and regeneration opportunities in the future.”

Next week’s meeting will also receive a presentation from Claire McLaren, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Assistant Director, Corporate Services, on the recently-launched Love Hartlepool campaign which aims to promote Hartlepool as a great place to live, work and invest.

The Hartlepool Economic Regeneration and Tourism Forum meets four times a year and is open to all businesses - whatever their size - and other stakeholders. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to email hartlepooleconomicforum@hartlepool.gov.uk or telephone  (01429) 867677 by March 26th.
