Have your say on housing allocations policy review

Views are being sought on proposed changes to the way homes are allocated by a Tees Valley partnership of local authorities and registered social landlords.

The Tees Valley Lettings Partnership which comprises Hartlepool, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councils as well as Beyond Housing, Home Group and North Star, is proposing to amend the Tees Valley Common Allocations Policy.

This follows a review of the policy which sets out the criteria used by the partnership to allocate properties.

An on-line consultation exercise which runs until July 12th, has been launched to explain the proposed changes and invite comments from residents, partners and stakeholders in the statutory, voluntary and community sectors.

Karen Kelly, Housing Strategy Team Leader with Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “The review of the policy took into account current housing need across Tees Valley, new legislation and statutory guidance.

“Variations have developed in the way properties are allocated in some partnership areas, and the proposed changes aim to address this and ensure that a consistent approach is taken across-the-board.

“The views of all interested parties are very important to us, and we would urge individuals and organisations to take part in the consultation exercise and tell us what they think of the proposed policy amendments.”
