Residents urged to check fridges in food alert

Residents of Hartlepool are being urged to check their fridges for products at the centre of a Food Standards Agency (FSA) alert.

The food alert concerns a number of ready-to-eat products (sandwiches, wraps and salads) produced and supplied by Cafe Class Ltd of Copeland Close, Middlesbrough. The FSA says they were not produced in accordance with food hygiene and legislative requirements and, therefore, may be unsafe.

Environmental health officials at Hartlepool Borough Council say they are aware of seven premises in the town that stock these particular products.

Businesses with affected stock are advised to remove the items from sale immediately, and consumers who have bought any of the affected products, should not eat them and return them to where they were bought. The affected items all have "Use By" dates up to September 15th 2019.

The FSA says no other Cafe Class Ltd products are known to be affected.
