Help shape new Domestic Abuse Strategy

Residents of Hartlepool are being invited to help shape the future of domestic abuse services in the town.

The Safer Hartlepool Partnership is currently reviewing its approach to tackling domestic abuse and wants to hear people’s views.

It has launched a consultation exercise to gain an understanding of perceptions of domestic abuse and to identify how support services for victims might be improved in the future.

Councillor Shane Moore, Chair of the Safer Hartlepool Partnership and Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “We want to find out what people think about domestic abuse services currently available in the town and whether these are meeting the needs of our community.

“The information gleaned from the consultation exercise will provide us with vital evidence that will help to inform the Partnership’s work to develop a new three-year Domestic Abuse Strategy which will run from 2020-2023.”

As part of consultation exercise, residents of the town can take part in an online survey. Click here to access the survey which closes on Friday November 1st.

Councillor Moore added: “I would urge as many people as possible to contribute their views, irrespective of their gender or age or whether or not they have been directly affected by domestic abuse.”

The partnership is also staging two consultation events for frontline practitioners working with individuals in Hartlepool affected by domestic abuse. These will take place at the following times and locations:

  • Tuesday September 24th at the Centre for Excellence in Creative Arts in King Oswy Drive. Click here or more information or to register.
