Small and medium-sized businesses in Hartlepool are invited to a free breakfast event in the town to find out more about what’s on offer from current skills funding programmes.

Called ‘Business Growth: Skills Support for the Workforce’, it’s on Thursday 3 October at The BIS, 13-17 Whitby Street, TS24 7AD, from 8.30am to 10am.

Hartlepool Borough Council has invited the Tees Valley Combined Authority to provide an update on current skills funding programmes including the Apprenticeship Support for Employers. There will also be brief presentations on the:

* Tees Valley Skills Support for the Workforce project, which offers fully-funded training to help small and medium-sized businesses fill skill gaps, raise productivity and boost business growth.

* Tees Valley Business Compass Leadership and Management Fund, which is designed to encourage the growth ambitions of small and medium-sized Tees Valley businesses by providing grant funding for projects which can increase leadership and management capability or capacity.

There will also be the opportunity to network with other local businesses and speak to providers on a one-to-one basis.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “Ensuring that employees have the right, up-to-date skills is vital to the success and growth of any business and there’s support available to help firms to do that. Come along to our business breakfast to make sure that you’re not missing out.”

Places at the event are limited, will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and must be booked in advance by calling Hartlepool Enterprise Centre on (01429) 867677.
