Become a Volunteer Walk Leader!

Could you offer some of your time each week to lead a walking group in Hartlepool?

Don’t miss a FREE Volunteer Walk Leader Training session taking place on Friday 4th October from 9.30am until 4pm at the Centre for Independent Living, Burbank Street.

The training is organised in partnership with national scheme Walking for Health, which aims to encourage inactive people to increase their level of physical activity by participating in local-led health walks.

Volunteer walk leaders help people in their communities to get active, providing vital support and showing people that walking really can make a big difference to their lives.

Attendees will receive full training and a qualification, ongoing support from the scheme coordinator, and access to a wide range of resources and equipment to help them plan and lead safe and fun walks.

Ryan Houghton, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Senior Sports and Physical Activity Coordinator, said: “This free training offers the perfect opportunity for individuals who are passionate about walking to explore their local community and make friends whilst doing something they love.

“We’re looking for individuals who can commit a small amount of time to the role to set up a local walking programme, are friendly and approachable and knowledgeable about the many health benefits of walking. If you think that could be you, please get in touch.”

Spaces are limited, so those interested are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. For more information or to book a place, please email participation@hartlepool.gov.uk or call 01429 523490.
