Have your say on our Council Plan

During the summer of 2016, Hartlepool Borough Council held a town wide conversation called Your Say, Our Future and what we heard was used to inform the preparation of our Council Plan 2017 - 2020.

Three years on, we are now looking to prepare our next Council Plan to cover the period 2020 - 2023 and we are keen to hear from as many residents, businesses, children and young people as possible.

Councillor Shane Moore, Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “During the Your Say, Our Future consultation in 2016, residents told us many things which we have since achieved on their behalf.

“For example, residents said they wanted us to ensure people in Hartlepool have access to the best education and learning opportunities.

“As a result, our School Improvement Service has continued to support schools and colleges across the town so that 87% of schools and 100% of FE colleges are now judged as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.

“We’ve also worked with the Northern School of Art to open a new campus delivering degree level qualifications in Hartlepool and in 2018 we opened the new Centre for Excellence in Creative Arts to provide technical training routes and learning pathways for young people into creative industries.

“This is just a small selection of what has been achieved as a direct result of what people said to us.

“We remain ambitious for the future and now as we start to prepare our next Council Plan we really want to hear from as many people as possible.”

Gill Alexander, Chief Executive of Hartlepool Borough Council, added: “When we spoke to residents and businesses in 2016, we were able to use the information gained to create priorities around tourism, the economy, leisure, housing, health and much more.

“We now want to take the opportunity to ask people what is going well, what needs to improve and how we as a Council can work together with residents and partner organisations to make further improvements.

“We’ll also be holding a number of consultation sessions and the details of these will be announced shortly.

“This is an exciting time for Hartlepool as we continue to shape a brighter future for the borough and I would encourage people to take this opportunity to help shape our plans for the future.”

Consultation on our new Council Plan runs until Friday 11 October and you can also have your say online by visiting www.hartlepool.gov.uk/council-plan
