A new ten-week football fitness league to support men to lose weight is kicking off soon.

An official registration for the Footy Fit league will take place on Monday 7th October from 7pm until 9pm at Brierton Sports Centre. The league will then begin on Monday 14th October, running weekly on the 3G pitch until Monday 16th December.

Footy fit

The aim of Footy Fit is for players to get fit and lose weight whilst having fun with friends. Teams can have a minimum of seven players and a maximum of eleven, and goal bonuses will be added for collective team weight loss.

Men must have a BMI of 27 or above to join, and players can pay £3.50 per session or just £30 for the full 10 weeks.

An exclusive league WhatsApp group has been set up to offer players regular updates on matches, league standings, fitness and healthy eating advice. An awards ceremony will also round off the season to honour the winning team and stand-out players.

Chris Fairless, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Sports and Physical Activity Officer and Footy Fit Coordinator, said: “The taster sessions proved hugely popular and we now have a number of teams signed up to the league.

“There are a limited number of team spaces left, so we’d urge anyone who’s interested in finding out more or signing up to get in touch as soon as possible to reserve their spot.”
