Share your memories of Church Street area

Published Friday, 4th October 2019

People are being invited to share their memories of a historic part of Hartlepool at a special nostalgia drop-in event.

Hartlepool Borough Council is keen to hear their stories about the Church Street area, particularly prior to the development of the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

People will also be able to have their memories recorded and, subject to their agreement, these will become part of Hartlepool Reference Library’s archives.

The drop-in event is part of an Oral History Project which, in turn, forms part of the wider Church Street Revival Project which is supported financially by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The Church Street Revival Project’s overall aim is to raise awareness of the area’s rich heritage and improve the quality of its built environment.

The event will take place in the café area at the Community Hub Central in York Road from 2-4pm on Tuesday October 8th. Free refreshments will be served.

Whilst there is no need to book, further information is available from Fiona Riley, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Townscape Heritage Project Officer, on (01429) 523532 or fiona.riley@hartlepool.gov.uk
