Packed programme unveiled for Fireworks Night

Published Tuesday, 29th October 2019

Chart a course to Seaton Carew on Tuesday 5 November for Hartlepool’s annual fireworks spectacular which will definitely be out of this world.

The theme of this year’s display is space exploration, celebrating 50 years since people first landed on the moon.

The free event will kick off from 4pm at the Clock Tower on the seafront with a funfair, followed by a fantastic line-up of musical performances from 5pm hosted by BBC Tees. The fireworks display itself will start at 6.30pm with the countdown from the Apollo 11 take-off.

Kicking off the musical entertainment with a bang at 5pm will be an incredibly gifted young singer from Hartlepool who has had a huge year! Erin Frances has performed all over the North-East and even graced the stage of Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.

The Spice Girls, Little Mix and Destiny’s Child all jump to mind when thinking about all-girl groups, but Hartlepool has its very own - The Dolls have a sparkling future ahead of them and they’ll be making it an evening to remember at 5.25pm.

Performing on the #LoveHartlepool stage at this year’s Hartlepool Waterfront Festival and auditioning for The Voice Kids were just two of the highlights of local lad Ben Bartlett’s year. Check out his incredible vocal ability and slick songwriting skills at 5.45pm.

Then at 6.05pm dynamic local hipster-hop duo Pek and Wanley will be taking time out from their packed schedule to perform your favourite classic tunes in a way you’ve never heard before.

Erin Frances, The Dolls, Ben Bartlett and Pek and Wanley will be providing the musical entertainment on Fireworks Night

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “The Apollo 11 moon landing by Neil Armstrong and his team was one of the greatest milestones in our history – truly a “giant leap for mankind.”

“We’ll be remembering that epic achievement and celebrating the wonder and mystery of space with a sparkling fireworks display and some fun-packed musical entertainment for all the family – and it’s all free!”

As in previous years, The Front at Seaton Carew, between the Station Lane and Elizabeth Way junctions, will be closed to traffic from 6.15pm to 7.15pm. After the display, vehicles will be prevented from turning into Station Lane from the Front to ease congestion.

To help make the event even more accessible, Hartlepool Borough Council is providing a free park and ride service to and from the event. The buses will pick up from, and return people to, the bus stop on Marina Way in front of the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool (NMRN) and parking will be available in the NMRN car park.
