A joyful evening brimming with traditional Christmas entertainment is taking place in Hartlepool this December.

The Mayor’s Celebration of Christmas is a FREE festive event taking place on Tuesday 17th December from 6pm at Hartlepool Borough Hall.

The celebration will feature traditional carols from a number of local choirs, including the #LoveHartlepool choir and The Military Wives choir, who will be delighting audiences with a number of festive favourites including Silent Night and Let it Snow.

There will be entertainment from Hartlepool’s musical sister duo Khalysis plus a stellar performance from local star Michael Rice, followed by a stunning ballet piece from The Nutcracker.

There will also be a number of stalls selling Christmassy wares and festive refreshments from local vendors. Other highlights include former MasterChef contestant and 2016 semi-finalist Matei Baran who will be giving a talk on Christmas dining followed by an invitation to try an array of festive specialities.

Councillor Brenda Loynes, Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool said: “We have a fantastic evening lined up to get everyone well and truly into the Christmas spirit, and we hope people come along in their festive jumpers, enjoy a mulled wine and have a sing-along to some Christmas classics.

“Although this is a free event, we will be welcoming donations to my chosen good causes, which are Pansies, Harbour and the Great North Air Ambulance.”

The evening will be rounded off with a group performance of a popular Christmas song as voted by the people of Hartlepool. Votes can be cast via a survey link on the Hartlepool Borough Hall Facebook page, voting ends Monday 9th December.

A free shuttle bus service will be in operation, with details released closer to the event.

Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance from www.destinationhartlepool.com.
