Join the Mayor for a Burns Night celebration

The Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool Councillor Brenda Loynes is inviting people to join her for a traditional Burns Night supper.

The celebration of the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns is on Saturday 25 January at West Hartlepool Rugby Football Club, Catcote Road, Hartlepool, TS25 4EZ. Guests are asked to arrive at 6.30pm ready to be seated at 7pm.

The three course traditional menu includes a soup starter, a main course of haggis, neeps and tatties and a dessert of Scottish shortbread served with ice cream. A chicken or vegan alternative is also available.

The haggis will be piped in in fine style by a piper and there will also be a raffle.  

Tickets cost £22 each and profits will go to the Mayor’s chosen good causes: the Great North Air Ambulance Service, Pansies Breast Cancer Support Group and Harbour.

Councillor Loynes said: “Burns Night has long been a special event in the civic calendar and I hope people will join me for a memorable evening of good food and fine company. Please wear some tartan!”
