Published Tuesday, 31st March 2020

Hartlepool Support Hub is continuing to support hundreds of residents across the Borough each and every day.

Yesterday, the Support Hub received 353 calls and delivered 36 food parcels and 34 prescriptions and other support.

The Hub – which launched last week and received more than 1,000 calls in its first three days – is a new support network to help anyone in Hartlepool who is self-isolating or otherwise unable to leave their home during the Coronavirus outbreak, including those who are at the highest risk and are being advised by the NHS to self-isolate for 12 weeks.

The Hartlepool Support Hub offers:

  • Information and advice
  • Emotional support
  • Delivery of shopping, newspapers and prescriptions; and
  • links to other additional services which are offering support

People can contact the Hub by:

  • Telephoning 01429 272905 (10am-4pm Mondays to Fridays and 10am-12 noon on Saturdays) or
  • Emailing helping@hartlepool.gov.uk

There is also lots of information available at www.hartlepoolnow.co.uk – Hartlepool’s existing local help and support website, which can also be downloaded as an App.

Jill Harrison, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Director of Adults and Community-Based Services, said: “We are receiving hundreds of calls every day and I’d like to say a huge thank you to the staff and volunteers who are making this possible and helping so many residents to stay safe, stay well and stay connected.

“We’re receiving lots of positive feedback and messages of thanks from residents and it is really rewarding  for staff and volunteers to know their work is so appreciated.”

Just some of the positive feedback:

“Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for the food parcel which arrived today for David, who is shielding at the moment. It contained all the items we can make use of and we are very grateful.”

“Can I first say a big, big THANK YOU for the surprise box of essential groceries you delivered yesterday, it was greatly appreciated and brought an emotional tear to my wife’s eyes.”

“I got a food parcel on Friday and was over the moon. A big thank you to you all doing such an excellent job looking after us all.”
