Help shape the future of Hartlepool

Residents and businesses are being offered a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Hartlepool.

They are being invited to contribute regeneration ideas and say what’s important to them and what could make the town a better place to live and work.

Hartlepool is one of 100 towns across England invited by the Government to develop innovative regeneration plans and secure up to £25m of funding through the Towns Fund.

Each town is required to develop a Town Investment Plan, and as part of this process the Council is keen to engage with local people and businesses to find out more about the challenges and opportunities they see for the town.

Hartlepool Borough Council is running separate online consultations for residents and businesses until the end of August.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, Chair of the Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “This is a very exciting time for Hartlepool with the prospect of so much Government money being potentially available to us.

“It is important that the investment plan we ultimately draw up addresses the needs and aspirations of local residents and businesses, so it is vital that we get as wide a range of views as possible.

“Please to take a few minutes to complete a survey and ensure that you don’t miss out on a chance to influence the future of our great town.”

Local businessman Alby Pattison, Chair of the Town Deal Board which has been set up to oversee the development of the Town Investment Plan, added: “Investment in Hartlepool through the Town Deal will enable the Council to build on infrastructure investment already underway in the town and act as a catalyst to continue attracting further investment to the town, which is critical for the future. It is important that the Town Investment Plan reflects the opinions of everyone in the town and I would like to encourage residents and businesses to take part in this consultation through the survey links.”
