Buses, bicycles and yellow taxis-only order for part of York Road

Published Friday, 11th September 2020

A temporary buses, bicycles and yellow taxis-only order is to be introduced on York Road, between Victoria Road and Park Road.

Part of the Council’s on-going response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the restriction aims to make it easier for people to socially distance during peak shopping hours.

It also aims to create a more attractive environment for active modes of travel such as cycling and walking.

This is not a pedestrianisation scheme, however, and people must still use this section of York Road safely, continuing to look out for buses, bicycles and taxis.

Following consultation with premises along the road, the restriction is to be introduced on Monday September 21st and will be in force daily from 10am-4pm. Its impact will be monitored on an on-going basis.

Deliveries to premises in this section of York Road will still be allowed between 10am-12pm and 2-4pm in accordance with the existing parking regulations.
