Carols on the doorstep

Residents across Hartlepool are being invited to sing carols and festive songs from their doorsteps to help spread some much-needed festive cheer.

It comes as Hartlepool Borough Council and 102.4 Radio Hartlepool have teamed up to become the first area in the North East to support Doorstep Carols, an initiative which originated in Shropshire before spreading to other areas.

At 6pm on Wednesday 16 December, Hartlepool residents and being encouraged to join together to sing O Come all ye Faithful, Away in a Manger, Ding Dong Merrily on High and Jingle Bells.

Words can be downloaded from www.doorstepcarols.co.uk and then all you have to do is tune in to 102.4 Radio Hartlepool and simply sing along on the night in household bubbles only.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “We could certainly all do with a little cheering up this year so we’re asking people across Hartlepool to throw themselves into this by singing their hearts out from the safety of their doorsteps.

“We’re delighted Radio Hartlepool are as passionate about this as we are and all you need to do is tune in to 102.4FM at 6pm on Wednesday 16 December – it really is as simple as that.”

Jason Anderson Managing Director of 102.4 Radio Hartlepool, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to be joining the Council to support Doorstep Carols and to be playing our part in helping the town stay in time and in tune!

“It promises to be a really fun evening and I hope residents will take the opportunity to tune in for a bit of festive cheer.”
