A powerful new partnership has been formed to help young people in Hartlepool gain the skills and experience they need to progress into employment.

The Hartlepool Youth Hub has been created through a partnership between Hartlepool Borough Council, Jobcentre Plus, National Careers Service and a range of other providers. This includes Tees Valley Youth Employment Initiative, Youth Support Service, colleges and specialist training providers.

The new Hub will provide comprehensive support for young people aged 16-29 who are not in work, education or training including:

  • Careers education, information and advice with a named careers advisor providing both one-to-one and group support.
  • A two-week intensive programme of specialist training and one-to-one advice.
  • Programmes to help young people develop skills and gain work experience linked to employers within growth employment sectors who will offer guaranteed interviews.
  • Training programmes, including distance learning, linked to growth employment sectors.
  • Access to alternative provision to help young people prepare for the world of work, including voluntary work placements via Volunteer Hartlepool.
  • Support to help participants improve their health and wellbeing.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Regeneration Services Committee, said: “This new partnership harnesses the expertise of a host of key organisations which have a proven track-record of helping people in Hartlepool improve their skills and knowledge and find employment.

“Young people really can have confidence that in their search for a job, they have a great team behind them, helping, supporting and encouraging them every step of the way. Don’t miss out - give Hartlepool Youth Hub a call.”

Dawn Rodgers, Jobcentre Plus Customer Service Leader for Hartlepool, added: “I am delighted that the Jobcentre team here in Hartlepool is going to be involved in this fantastic new initiative.

“Working together with other organisations to support more local young people into work sooner is very exciting, and I know we ‘can make a real difference!”
