The Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool has launched a new award scheme to recognise those who have made a difference during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Councillor Brenda Loynes says she has noticed the “wonderful community spirit which has radiated within Hartlepool throughout the pandemic” and is keen to recognise the work of those individuals and groups who have helped others and made a significant difference to their lives.

Councillor Loynes says: “I really want to recognise the amazing contribution so many people have played in Hartlepool’s response to COVID-19.

“I know people have contributed in so many different ways including volunteering, helping a neighbour, donating food and going above and beyond in their jobs.

“If you know an individual or group that has made a difference in Hartlepool during the pandemic, please nominate them for the Mayor’s Award.”

Nominations are open until Monday 8 March and anyone who lives, works or studies in the Borough can be put forward.

To make a nomination please email MEMSEC@hartlepool.gov.uk and tell us in less than 250 words why you are nominating this individual or group for a Mayor’s Award.

Alternatively, nominations can be submitted in writing to Members’ Services Hartlepool Borough Council, Civic Centre, Hartlepool. TS24 8AY.
