The Big Lime Weekend is back!

Hartlepool’s Big Lime Triathlon will return this summer and online entries are now being taken.

The flagship event, comprising a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run, will take place on Sunday August 15th after being cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is open to people of all abilities, including experienced triathletes and complete novices looking to take on their first triathlon challenge.

The event will be the culmination of a Big Lime Weekend that will also include a 750m Open Water Swim on Friday August 13th and an Aquathlon (750m swim and 5km run) on Saturday August 14th at 9am.

“We were devastated not to be able to hold last year’s events, so it’s great to be back,” said Ryan Houghton, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Senior Sport and Physical Activity Co-ordinator.

Entry fees are £7 for the Open Water Swim, £24 for the Aquathlon and £40 for individuals taking part Big Lime Triathlon. Enter all three events for £60 and get the Open Water Swim free. The Big Lime Triathlon can be also be entered on a relay basis at a cost of £54 per team.

There will be a special award for those who state their time for the Friday swim event and maintain it in the subsequent Aquathlon and Triathlon.
