Families in Hartlepool are being invited to take part in a fun summer holiday activity with a historical twist.

A treasure hunt-style trail of eight questions about Church Street, Church Square and Hartlepool Art Gallery will launch on Friday (August 6th) and run until the end of the month.

All of the answers to the questions can be found in the three areas.

Families can pick up sheets containing the questions and a series of facts about this historic part of the town from the gallery in Church Square which is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm. They can return their completed sheets to the gallery reception to receive a prize pack.

The trail has been organised by Emma Ackroyd, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Townscape and Heritage Project Officer, who leads the Church Street Revival Project. The project which is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, aims to improve the quality of the built environment in the Church Street Conservation Area and raise awareness of the area’s rich heritage.

“We want this to be a fun activity that families can do at their leisure. It’s a great way to learn more about the fascinating history of this area. All they need to do is call in at the gallery to collect their sheets,” she said.

The trail is suitable for children aged 7-12 with parent/carer support.
