Appeal for triathlon marshals

Published Thursday, 5th August 2021

VOLUNTEER marshals are being asked to come forward to ensure the smooth running of Hartlepool’s Big Lime Weekend.

A number of people have already offered to help, but Hartlepool Borough Council is hoping that more will come forward ahead of the showpiece event which runs from Friday August 13th-Sunday August 15th.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. The marshals will be placed at strategic points at events to assist both competitors and spectators.

The Big Lime Weekend comprises a predictor swim on the Friday, an aquathlon the following day and a triathlon on the Sunday. Marshals are needed for the Saturday and Sunday events. Refreshments will be available

Anyone who is interested in becoming a marshal can email participation@hartlepool.gov.uk and full details will be provided

Katie Myers, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Participation Officer, said: “The marshals have a vital role to play both in terms of competitors and spectators.

“This is also an opportunity for people to gain experience of volunteering and being involved in the organisation and running of a large-scale open air event.”

Big Lime Weekend events can be entered at www.gethartlepoolactive.co.uk/triathlon Online entries close at 8am on Monday (August 9th).
