Families in Hartlepool are being invited to take part in a range of fun, creative workshops with a historical twist taking place on Sunday 15th and 22nd August 2021 at No.9 Church Street.

Families will need to use their creative powers to help Isabella and Emily, two Hartlepudlians who have mysteriously travelled from the past, return to their past families. Can you help them back to the past? Attend these workshops to help them find their way back.

Message in a Bottle 2pm – 4pm

Ships in a Bottle Exploring No. 9 Church Street, Hartlepool - why was it built, who worked there and what is its history? By using print, collage and stencils the workshop will uncover some of the secrets of inside No. 9... Who owned it and what was it used for?! You will make your own historic record to take away whilst also learning about Hartlepool's fascinating heritage.

All artists involved in this project live and work in Hartlepool.  They are proud of the town and want to show it to its best.

The workshops have been organised by Emma Ackroyd, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Townscape and Heritage Project Officer, who leads the Church Street Revival Project. The project which is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players, aims to improve the quality of the built environment in the Church Street Conservation Area and raise awareness of the area’s rich heritage.

Emma said: “We want these two days to be a fun for all the family. Being creative is a great way to learn more about the history of our town and in particular Church Street. All families need to do is book online at one or all the workshops they are interested.”

Booking is essential for any of the workshops and children need to be accompanied by adults. To book onto any of the workshops please visit: www.hartlepool.gov.uk/creative-history
