Hartlepool Borough Council's Environmental Health Manager Joanne Burnley being presented the award for Council of the Year

Councillor Cameron Stokell, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Chair of Neighbourhood Services Committee said: “Behind this award is years of work to help reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions in Hartlepool, and it’s wonderful to see the hard work from the housing team at Hartlepool Borough Council paying off.

“The work being carried out is valuable to our most vulnerable residents, to help make their homes warmer and more energy efficient, saving them money on their utility bills in the process. Every single household benefiting from one of the home insulation improvements counts as another small step towards our efforts to combat fuel poverty in Hartlepool and helps reduce carbon emissions at the same time. ”

The Energy Efficiency Awards are run by the Energy Efficiency Association. The Regional or Local Authority Body of the Year Award rewards one exceptional council, in each of the 11 Regional areas around the UK that has shown a true commitment to promoting energy efficiency within their region. The award recognises the efforts of that council and seeks to thank them for their service to their local community.
