Residents urged to use their vote

Residents in Hartlepool are being encouraged to make their voices heard by voting in the local elections on Thursday.

Elections are to be held in all 12 wards comprising Hartlepool Borough Council.

One of the three seats in each ward will be contested, with the exception of Rural West ward where two councillors will be elected due to the recent sad death of the town’s former Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Brenda Loynes.

Polling stations will be open from 7am-10pm.

Denise McGuckin, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Returning Officer, said: “It is so important that people use their vote.

“The election is an opportunity for electors to influence decisions about services at a local level. The democratic process in our country exists to give people a voice and I hope that those eligible to vote take the opportunity on Thursday.”
