A series of events and activities will take place in Hartlepool next week to mark Dementia Action Week 2022.

A range of organisations, including Hartlepool Borough Council, The Hospital of God and Hartlepool Carers, have come together under the umbrella of Dementia Friendly Hartlepool which aims to develop the town as a nationally-recognised dementia-friendly community.

Events and activities will take place throughout the week, which runs from May 16th-20th, and local people are being urged to get involved.

Hannah Robertson, Co-ordinator of Dementia Friendly Hartlepool, said: “In the UK, one person develops dementia every three minutes. With the right support and opportunities to stay active, people can continue to live well with dementia.”

“We are grateful to all of the groups and services involved with the events planned for Dementia Action Week. It is a great opportunity to raise awareness of dementia and promote the range of activities and support available to people living with dementia, their family and carers in Hartlepool.”
