Hartlepool men wanting to lose weight, get fit and become more active are being urged to sign up to a free health initiative.

The 12-week FIT POOLIES course is a partnership between Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation, the EFL Trust and Hartlepool Borough Council. It is part of the trust’s national FIT FANS programme.

It begins on Monday January 23rd at Hartlepool United FC’s Suit Direct Stadium. To find out more email Fit.Fans@hartlepoolunited.co.uk or call (01429) 862595. Alternatively, visit www.efltrust.com/FITFANS

Previous courses have proved to be extremely popular and successful.

Open to men aged 35-65, FIT POOLIES combines classroom sessions on nutrition and lifestyle changes with physical activity.

Keith Nobbs, Manager of the Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation, said: “Over 12 weeks, FIT POOLIES will give participants all the tools, information and support they need to make small, manageable changes to their lifestyles that can in turn make a huge difference to their lives generally.

“Previous participants have told us how much they got from the initiative, so I would encourage anyone wanting to be fitter and healthier in 2023- and beyond to sign up without delay.”

Beverley Hall-Jones, Advanced Public Health Practitioner with Hartlepool Borough Council, added: “A range of serious health conditions, including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and some cancers, can be a consequence of being overweight or obese.

“FIT POOLIES provides a supportive environment where like-minded men can come together and have the opportunity to make changes in their lives and improve their health and wellbeing in the longer-term.”
