Triathlon entries open online

Online entries are now being taken for Hartlepool’s Big Lime Triathlon 2023.

Organised by Hartlepool Borough Council, the event will be held on Sunday August 20th.

A predictor swim and an aquathlon - which in recent years have taken place alongside the triathlon as part of a Big Lime Weekend – are not being held this year.

The Big Lime Triathlon is open to people of all abilities, including experienced triathletes and complete novices looking to take on their first challenge.

Dan Garthwaite, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Participation and Strategy Manager, said: “The decision not to have a predictor swim and aquathlon this year wasn’t one we took lightly, but we felt it was best to concentrate resources on the flagship Big Lime Triathlon.

“It is already very popular and we hope to build on that. Its popularity comes from it being closed road event along a fast, flat course from Hartlepool marina and along Seaton Carew promenade which makes it ideal for beginners or, if you are a more seasoned athlete, for smashing your personal best!

“The event is also well supported and there is no doubt that the cheering crowds help to spur on the competitors.”

The Big Lime Triathlon comprises a 750m open water marina swim followed by a 20km cycle and 5km run.

If you don't want to enter the triathlon individually there is the option of entering as a relay team to split the disciplines.
