Happy Birthday Community Hub South!

Published Friday, 20th October 2023

Hartlepool’s Community Hub South marks its 60th birthday next week – and you’re invited to come and join in the celebrations!

Formerly called Owton Manor Community Centre and Library, the building in Wynyard Road is a much-loved and important part of the local community

In recent years as one of Hartlepool’s Community Hubs it has undergone an extensive makeover and now brings together under one roof a wide range of services from a host of different organisations, with events, skills workshops, social groups, health and advice services and much more.

Next week, in addition to the Hub’s regular offerings, there will be lots of 1960s-themed fun, including a reminiscence session – come together and share your memories of Owton Manor – a 60s themed quiz, social dance, children’s badge-making, a light-hearted look back in time through pictures and music - plus drop in for a free three-course meal, including birthday cake.

There will also be a 60s-themed area where you can pose for your own photographs, plus there’ll be tea and cakes and commemorative keyrings.

Councillor Sue Little, Vice-Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Adult and Community-Based Services Committee, said: “Generations of local people have grown up with the building – it has been the venue for countless events and celebrations over the years and holds a special place in people’s hearts.

“As a Community Hub it continues to go from strength to strength, helping and supporting people of all ages to live their best lives, so together with our partner organisations we’re very proud to say Happy Birthday Community Hub South!”
