The festive celebrations started early for families in Hartlepool when they came together to enjoy a free, fun-packed Christmas Party organised by Hartlepool Borough Council’s new Family Hubs.

The Family Hubs are a one-stop-shop for free support for children aged 0-19 (or 0-25 for those with SEND). There are four Hubs in Hartlepool - in Rossmere, Miers Avenue, Hindpool Close and Middleton Grange Shopping Centre – running weekly support sessions, play groups and much more.

191 children, young people and their families from across the town attended the party, which took place at Rossmere Family Hub.

The fun included Christmas crafting, a mini disco, giant games, an infant play room and a chance to meet Santa in his Winter Wonderland grotto.

The event went down a treat with the families who attended.

One parent said: “What a wonderful place Rossmere Family Hub is. I’ve been to several baby classes there and a couple of events like the Christmas party today and every single time the staff have been phenomenal. The events are so well-planned and cater to everyone really well.”

Another parent said: “It was brilliant idea for the little ones… my kids had a fantastic time!”

Councillor Jim Lindridge, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Children’s Services Committee, attended the event with his grandson and other family members.

He said: “The party was a great success and it was lovely to see everyone having a fantastic time.

“There was a wonderful selection of activities for families to enjoy and it also gave them a great opportunity to meet other families, share experiences and find out more about everything the Family Hubs can offer.”

Lisa Adams, Head of Service for Early Help, added: “The Family Hubs plan to continue hosting events like this in future, bringing families together and spreading the word about all the Family Hubs can offer.”

“There are a lot of exciting things happening as part of Family Hubs in the New Year, and we would encourage families to call in or contact us for more information.”

Hartlepool families can access the Hub and its services or weekly group sessions completely free of charge. There is also a range of online 24/7 resources and support available for families to use. To find out more call 01429 292444.
