Have you joined the Big Conversation?

Time is running out for people to take part in a major public consultation and engagement exercise run by Hartlepool Borough Council.

The Big Conversation – Your Say, Our Future will finish at the end of the month - ten weeks after being launched.

The Council is keen to find out what residents and its partners from the public, private and voluntary and community sectors think about Hartlepool and the type of place they want it to be in the future.

The information they provide will help to shape the development of a new Council Plan setting out the authority’s priorities for the next five years.

People can get involved in a variety of ways:

  • Taking part in a survey which can be accessed online at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/big-conversation Paper copies of the survey are also available from a range of Council buildings, including the Civic Centre, Community Hubs, branch libraries and sports centres.
  • At stakeholder workshops.
  • At the Council’s Community Hub Central in York Road and Community Hub South in Wynyard Road. Anyone attending the hubs, branch libraries and the Council’s Local and Family History will be actively encouraged to take part and staff will be on hand to provide assistance.
  • Using a toolkit which has been prepared to enable residents, community groups and other partners to host their own conversations and share their feedback with the Council. The toolkit is available on request by emailing yoursay@hartlepool.gov.uk

Councillor Mike Young, Leader of the Council, said: “The Big Conversation is hugely important in terms of the future of Hartlepool and ensuring that the next Council Plan adequately reflects the needs and aspirations of local residents and other stakeholders.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken part in the consultation and given their views, and I would urge others not to miss out on the opportunity to have their say.”

Denise McGuckin, Managing Director of the Council, added: “People’s views matter to us and I would urge as many residents and other stakeholders as possible to participate in the Big Conversation.

“Although the Big Conversation is due to close on 31st January, there’s still time to get involved and play a part in shaping the future of the borough.”
