Lots of opportunities at Elephant Rock

Organisations, community groups and businesses are being offered exciting opportunities to get involved with Hartlepool’s prime outdoor event and performance space.

Elephant Rock, on the Headland Promenade, is an award-winning, purpose-designed location featuring a large open space with a seating area and impressive sea views.

It’s a venue for events including Hartlepool Folk Festival, the Wintertide Festival and the Headland Carnival and is also popular for informal leisure activities like walking, running and cycling.

Hartlepool Borough Council is working to develop a varied seasonal programme of additional activities and events at the location, with a main focus being use by local community organisations.

Permission is required from the Council to host activities and events, which could include creative performances and physical activity sessions, however there will be no hire charge for community organisations.

The Council is also inviting tenders from a business to occupy a prime pitch at the site to operate mobile catering units for a 12-month period. (The successful applicant will be required to apply for a street trading licence).

Amy Orr, the Council’s Creative Venues and Events Manager, said: “Elephant Rock is already a popular and well-established location for several local events and we are keen to develop a broader range of activities and events for all the family.

“It also offers fantastic potential for organisations and community groups to stage events of their own and it’s a prime location for a catering street trader.”

Community groups and organisations interested in hiring Elephant Rock for events should email elephantrock@hartlepool.gov.uk.

Businesses interested in tendering for the street trading pitch can download more details at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/elephant-rock-street-trading. The closing date for receipt of tenders is midnight on Sunday 28th April.
