New speed limit signs are now in place, together with speed roundels on the road surface, and a pedestrian crossing point has been installed, comprising dropped kerbs, guard rails and pedestrian warning signs.
The work has been carried out by Hartlepool Borough Council in response to concerns raised by residents who were worried about the traffic speed through the village and felt vulnerable trying to cross the dual carriageway to get to facilities such as the bus stops and the pub without a central crossing point where they could wait safely.

Councillor Karen Oliver, Chair of the Council’s Neighbourhood Services Committee, said: “As a Council we are committed to road safety and also to listening to residents when they raise road safety issues with us.
"We are delighted to have been able to put in place these changes, which will make it safer for both the residents and motorists alike.
“We would also like to thank motorists for their understanding while the work was carried out and would ask them to please follow the new speed limits and be considerate of the needs of the residents as they travel through the village.”
