National Safeguarding Adults Week 2024
Published Wednesday, 13th November 2024A campaign to raise awareness of adult abuse and neglect and the help that is available is taking place from 18th-22nd November.
National Safeguarding Adults Week is run by national charity The Ann Craft Trust and is being supported by Hartlepool Borough Council alongside The Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board (TSAB), the statutory body responsible for the strategic direction of adult safeguarding across Tees Valley.
This year, the theme is “Working in Partnership” and the week offers some focussed events to improve collaboration and networking, knowledge and practice.
Councillor Gary Allen, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Adult and Community Based Services Committee, said: “We are pleased to once again be supporting National Safeguarding Adults Week and it reflects our on-going commitment to support the right of all adults to live safely, free from abuse and neglect.
“Safeguarding relates to adults of all ages and not just older people, and it is vital that people recognise when it is occurring and have the confidence to report concerns to the relevant authorities.”
TSAB Independent Chair Adrian Green said: “Safeguarding Week is an opportunity to benefit anyone who is involved or interested in safeguarding adults or caring for someone with care and support needs.”
Residents of Hartlepool can report concerns about abuse and neglect by calling Hartlepool Borough Council on (01429) 523390 during normal office hours. On evenings and at weekends they should call (01642) 524552.
