School appeals panels - members wanted

Published Wednesday, 15th January 2025

Would you like to become involved in an important, impartial service provided to parents and schools?

Hartlepool Borough Council is seeking volunteers to join School Admission Appeals Panels which deal with primary and secondary school admissions appeals.

Each panel is made up of three or five members who are independent of Hartlepool Borough Council and meet on an ad-hoc basis. The panels hear admission appeals against decisions not to admit children to particular schools.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience in education or are familiar with educational conditions - a teacher or a parent of a child attending a school, for example.

This is an unpaid role but you will receive reimbursement for travel expenses. Full training will be given.
