The search is on for this year’s Hartlepool beach lifeguards
Published Friday, 24th January 2025Have you got what it takes to join Hartlepool’s lifeguards?
Hartlepool Borough Council’s recruitment drive is underway for this year’s beach lifeguards, to cover the main beach at Seaton Carew.
A total of 14 lifeguards are required for the school summer holiday period – every day from 19th July to 1st September.
Lifeguards will be paid £13.47 per hour.
Would-be lifeguards should hold a current National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification.
For those who currently don’t have a relevant qualification, the Council is hosting two Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS) National Vocational Beach Lifeguard courses.
Each course costs £160 per person and will be held at Mill House Leisure Centre and on Seaton Carew beach. The first course is over three weekends: April 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th. The second course is over six days from 24th to 30th May (excluding Monday 26th May).
For more information about the courses and course requirements, visit the RLSS course finder website at rlssuk.tahdah.me/event/detail/1028877 and rlssuk.tahdah.me/event/detail/1028929 and to book email parksandcountryside@hartlepool.gov.uk

Councillor Gary Allen, Chair of the Council’s Adult and Community-Based Services Committee, said: “Our beach lifeguards play a really important role and we’re looking for candidates who are fit, strong swimmers, reliable, good team workers and available over the school summer holidays. If this is you, we’d love to hear from you.”
