APPOINTMENT OF INDEPENDENT PERSONS AND MEMBERS OF THE INDEPENDENT REMUNERATION PANEL
Published Monday, 27th February 2017Under the Localism Act, 2011, the Borough Council are required to appoint Independent Persons.
It is part of their arrangements in the promotion and maintenance of high standards of conduct affecting its elected members and those members of a Parish Council within its area.
The Borough Council presently propose to appoint two Independent Persons, to fulfil this requirement. In addition, it would seek to appoint at least three individuals to serve upon its Independent Remuneration Panel, as required under The Local Authorities (Member Allowances) (England) Regulations, 2003. The Panel report periodically and make recommendations to the Council on the level of allowances for elected and co-opted Members.
Applications are therefore invited from members of the public, particularly from those within experience in either a regulatory, commercial, professional or voluntary sector with an interest in the proper and effective ethical and good governance of an organisation.
Training will be provided and reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be payable.
Applicants should not within the past five years have been an elected member, co-opted member or officer of the Borough Council or of a Parish Council within the Council’s area, or a relative or close friend of such persons.
