IN PICTURES: Council grants freedom honour
Published Thursday, 18th May 2017HARTLEPOOL Council has granted Freedom of the Borough to three individuals and one local organisation at a special ceremony in the town.
It follows an appeal by the Council’s Civic Honours Committee last year for nominations for the historic title.

The Honorary Freeman/Freewoman title is the highest honour that a Council can bestow and has been granted to the following:
Jill Kitching – Founder of Epilepsy Outlook which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Mohamed Menabawey – Revered in Hartlepool for setting up the fertility unit at the town’s hospital which has received worldwide acclaim.
Alby Pattison – Local business entrepreneur and creator of Hartlepool-based Hart Biologicals which exports life-saving medical equipment around the world.
1st Hartlepool Boys’ Brigade Company – Established in 1886, the 1st Hartlepool Boys’Brigade was the first Boys’ Brigade Company to be formed in England.
