ORGANISERS of Hartlepool’s Wintertide Festival have received invaluable funding support following a joint partnership arrangement with Tees Valley Community Foundation.

A total of £8,496 has been awarded from the Tees Valley Small Grants Fund in support of various events taking place across the three-day festival programme from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 November, including a mini pantomime performance and a film festival.

Pupils from St Bega’s School and St Helen’s Primary Schools will also benefit from the funding, with an amount allocated for creative workshops to enable the children to craft lamps for the festival’s opening parade.

Now in its third year, the annual Wintertide Festival celebrates the Headland and its strong community, attracting visitors from far and wide every year.

Festival attendees can look forward to an exciting catalogue of events ranging from light installations to artist exhibitions and workshops at popular Headland venues, including the Borough Hall, Heugh Gun Battery and St Hilda’s Church.

Wintertide Festival Chairman Peter Jackson said: “We would like to thank both Hartlepool Council and Tees Valley Community Foundation for their support. Over the past three years, we have built and strengthened close ties with local community groups and organisations.

“The success of the festival is dependent on the hard work, dedication and time members of the local community devote to the organisation of the event.

“There really is something for everyone on this year’s programme of events, and we look forward to welcoming both local residents and visitors from across the Tees Valley and beyond to the event.”

The Tees Valley Community Foundation’s Small Grants Fund allows organisations to bid for up to £1,000 on projects that celebrate life in the Tees Valley.
