Hartlepool’s Hot Potato Comedy Club set for brand new autumn season.

The nights may be drawing in, but Hartlepool’s popular monthly Hot Potato Comedy Club has a string of Saturday night specials to help keep the chills at bay this autumn, with a brand-new season of comedy capers at the Town Hall Theatre.

And it’s a typically strong mix of familiar TV faces and some of the best comics up and down the land who’ll be heading for Hartlepool over the coming months.

BBC2’s Mash Report regular Geoff Norcott leads the way when the season kicks off on Saturday 30 September, joined by award-winning Phil Walker, hotly-tipped Simon Wozniak and, fresh from supporting Jason Manford on tour this week, Hot Potato favourite Danny McLoughlin as MC.

Hartlepool’s comedy fans can also look forward to Matt Reed and Barry Dodds both making welcome returns as special guest MCs this autumn – both hosting a mix of popular headliners to add to the Saturday night buzz around the town.

Ella Willis of promoters Ten Feet Tall said: “We have some amazing line-ups again – people you’ll recognise from the telly as well as some of the best comics on the circuit, and we can’t wait to get cracking with our brand-new season in Hartlepool!

“The Town Hall Theatre is just a fantastic place to play, and comics absolutely love it here – they love the venue, they love the audience, it all adds up to a top night all round.”

  • Saturday 30 September: Danny McLoughlin (MC), Geoff Norcott, Phil Walker & Simon Wozniak. 8pm. Age: 18+. £7 early-birds a week in advance / £10 standard.
  • Saturday 28 October: Matt Reed (MC), Rob Deering, Ian Smith & Tony Wright. 8pm. Age: 18+. £7 early birds a week in advance / £10 standard.
  • Saturday 25 November: Damian Clark, George Lewis, Carl Jones & special guest MC tbc. 8pm. Age: 18+. £7 early birds a week in advance / £10 standard.
  • Saturday 9 December: Christmas Special, starring Barry Dodds (MC), Rich Wilson, Dan Nightingale & Simon Lomas. 8pm. Age: 18+. All tickets £12.00.
